Ignacio Ciampitti is a Professor in the Department of Agronomy at Kansas State University. Ignacio studies the impact of management practices on overall farming productivity, investigating interactions between plant processes, crop growth modeling, and remote sensing. His research program integrates field, statistics, remote sensing, and modeling research to understand plant responses.

Brian Mccornack is a Professor in the Department of Entomology at Kansas State University. His areas of Specialization and Interest are Insect Ecology, Ecosystem Services (native pollinators and natural enemies), Integrated Pest Management (sampling, bioeconomics), Remote Sensing and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), Invasive Species, Web-Based Decision Support Systems, and Digital Delivery.

Pascal Hitzler is the Director of the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science and  he is endowed Lloyd T. Smith Creativity in Engineering Chair at the Department of Computer Science at Kansas State University. Hitzler’s research focuses on such diverse areas as the semantic web, artificial intelligence, neural-symbolic integration, knowledge representation and reasoning, machine learning, denotational semantics, and set-theoretic topology.

Anita Dille

Farming Systems

Anita Dille is Professor and Assistant Head for Teaching in the Department of Agronomy at Kansas State University. Her research is focused on aspects of site-specific weed management in agronomic crops using smart-sprayer technology, mapping of weed species distributions, and the influence of management on weed emergence, growth, and seed production in no-till crop rotations.

Suprem Das joined is an assistant professor at the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering at K-State. Das' most recent research interests involve additive manufacturing and laser-based manufacturing of graphene, nanotubes and other nanomaterials for sensing and energy applications such as electrochemical sensing and electrochemical energy storage.

Communications and 
Agricultural Education

Jason Ellis is the department head for Communications and Agricultural Education. He is a professor and advises students for undergraduate and graduate programs in agricultural communications and journalism. He conducts and disseminates communications research through an appointment with the Kansas State University Agricultural Experiment Station.

Wheat Breeding

Alan Fritz is a Professor in the Department of Agronomy at Kansas State University. His research focuses on wheat breeding, which aims to develop and release new public hard winter varieties through the Kansas Wheat Alliance.

Spencer Schrader currently serves as the UAS Flight Operations Manager at K-State University Salina Aerospace and Technology campus. In his role at the University, he refines current courses and develops and instructs new ones. Over the years, he has trained thousands of individuals on UAS flight operations and gained extensive experience leading UAS research missions, including FAA initiatives.

Ajay Sharda is an assistant professor in the Department of Agricultural Engineering at K-State University. Ajay’s research has focused on development, analysis and experimental validation of control systems for agricultural machinery systems with special emphasis on automation.

Adrian Correndo is a Postdoctoral Fellow working on Research & Extension in corn and soybeans at Ciampitti Lab at Department of Agronomy of K-State. Adrian’s main interests are focused on the development of digital solutions that translate scientific knowledge into practical decision-making frameworks for efficient and environmentally safe crop production.

Shawn Hutchinson is a Professor in the Department of Geography and Geospatial Sciences and Director of the Geographic Information Systems Spatial Analysis Laboratory (GISSAL).  He is a geographer and environmental scientist who seeks to maximize the power of GIS, remote sensing, and computational methods for near real-time environmental monitoring, evaluate and forecast landscape metrics characterizing the sustainability of working lands, and to assess agricultural biosecurity hazards at regional and national scales.

Communications and Agricultural Education

Lishan Su is a Senior Research Associate in the Department of Communications and Agricultural Education at Kansas State University. Dr. Su studies the impact of information processing on consumer adoption of agricultural products, the role of marketing in science communication, marketing and consumer behavior in the digital world regarding environmental issues, and diffusion of innovations.

Kurt Carraway is head of the unmanned aircraft systems flight and operations program at Kansas State University Polytechnic Campus. He directs the execution of research activities involving UAS through the Applied Aviation Research Center (AARC). Kurt also directs flight operations development and maturation of the UAS training program through direct supervision of the flight operations staff.

Biological and Agricultural Engineering

Daniel Flippo is an assistant professor in the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering. Daniel’s research goal is to mesh state-of-the-art robotic technology with conventional and non-conventional food production to move toward sustainably feeding the world past 2050. His research thrusts range from traditional agricultural machines to autonomous vehicles and the tools and implements used.

Spencer Clark

Curriculum Studies

Spencer Clark, is Director of the Rural Education Center, and an Associate Professor of Curriculum Studies at Kansas State University. Much of his research has focused on promoting teachers and student agencies through problem-based learning curriculum and problem-based learning experiences that utilize aspects of digital communication, inquiry, collaboration, and personalized learning.

Tom Haritos is the Director for Research UAS Research Program Manager at the Applied Aviation Research Center (AARC), K-State Salina. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer and Information Sciences and a post graduate Educational Specialist degree from Nova Southeastern University. Also he is an FAA licensed Aircraft Maintenance Technician and currently serves as a Principal Investigator at K-State.
